Judy Blue Shorts sizing is a bit different than denim sizing.  Watch for waist measurements and sizing suggestions on each pair. :)

PS: The biggest difference between XL and 1XL is the amount of room in the hips.  The 1XL can have about 5" more room in the hips than the XL, so size according to body shape. 
(i.e. Someone with a 33" waist with smaller legs/hips would prefer the XL, whereas someone with a 33" waist who carries more weight in their hips/thighs would prefer a 1XL.)
